Woman Dies, Man Charged With DWI In Crash With Guilford County Schools Bus

High Point police say Richard Wall was driving under the influence of alcohol after a Guilford County Schools bus and a car both crashed into a house .

One person died and an accused drunk driver was sent to the hospital after a Guilford County Schools bus and a car both crashed into a house in High Point Tuesday afternoon.

In new details obtained Wednesday, High Point police say the driver of the car, Richard Wall, was driving under the influence of alcohol. Wall was ejected from the vehicle after running a stop sign and colliding with the school bus. 

The passenger, Shena J. Montgomery, died from her injuries at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center around 7 p.m. Montgomery, of Clarkton, North Carolina was 29 years old.

The crash occurred Tuesday around 3 p.m. at the corner of Oneka Ave. and Meredith St. in High Point. 

Police said it appears Wall, driving a Chrysler 200, ran a stop sign and traveled into the path of the bus. The bus then hit the Chrysler's passenger side door. Both vehicles then crashed into a house on the 1600 block of Oneka Ave.

Wall was taken to Moses Cone Hospital.

One student from Oak View Elementary was on the school bus at the time of the crash but not injured. The bus driver was taken to the hospital with injuries that weren't life-threatening. 

Investigators also located Marijuana and open containers of alcohol inside the Chrysler. 

Wall is currently facing charges of Driving While Impaired, Failure to Yield the Right of Way, Failure to Wear a Seat Belt, Driving While License Revoked, Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol and Possession of Marijuana.

No one was inside the house at the time of the crash.
